Privacy Policy
Last updated: 08/06/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Girmanators ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you and your family use our application (the "App"). Girmanators is a family money-management and chore-engagement app: a parent or guardian creates the family account and adds child members who earn in-family rewards, bank them, and spend them in a family shop. The App is currently offered only in the United States, and we design our practices around U.S. children's-privacy law (COPPA). The App is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect data from, children outside the United States.
1. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Protecting children's information is central to how the App works. Only a parent or legal guardian can create the family account, and only that adult can add, edit, or remove a child member. We collect a limited set of information about each child, and we obtain the parent's verifiable consent at the time the child account is created. We use children's information solely to operate the family's account and the features the parent enables. We never sell children's information, and we never use it for behavioral or targeted advertising.
As the parent or guardian, you can at any time:
- Review the information we hold about you and each child.
- Download a copy of that information (data export) from the user-management and profile screens.
- Delete a child member or the entire family account, which permanently removes the associated information.
- Refuse further collection by deleting the child account; doing so withdraws your consent and removes the child's data.
2. Information We Collect
- Information You Provide (parent/guardian): your name, email address (or, if you sign in with Google or Microsoft, the basic identity those services share), profile details, and your attestation that you are 18 or older.
- Information about a child: the child's first name, the login handle you choose, and their timezone. Optionally, if you add them, a notification email, phone number, and profile photo. Children sign in with a handle and a PIN — we do not require an email address for a child.
- Managed-device information (optional): if you place a child on a managed Android device and enable the parental-control features, the App can collect that device's location and app-activity to provide the controls you turn on (for example, location check-ins and limiting access to certain apps). This is collected only while you have those features enabled and only for the device you set up.
- Activity within the App: the chores, rewards, in-family banking transactions, savings goals, and simulated ("paper") investing activity created in your family account. Paper investing is for learning only — no real money or real securities are involved.
- Automatically Collected Information: your IP address, browser type and operating system, device information, and usage data such as the pages you visit and the features you use. We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We use analytics (described below) only with consent.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the App and the features you enable.
- Operate your family's account — earning, banking, the shop, savings goals, and the parental controls you turn on.
- Communicate with you, such as to respond to your inquiries, send account and reminder notifications, and provide updates.
We do not sell your or your family's information, and we do not share it for advertising. We never use a child's information for advertising of any kind.
4. Analytics & Cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand general usage trends. Analytics is off by default and runs only after an adult account holder opts in. We never run analytics on a child's session — children's activity is excluded from analytics entirely. You can change your analytics choice at any time, and you can manage non-essential cookies through your browser. Essential cookies needed to sign you in and operate the App cannot be turned off without preventing the App from working.
5. Location Information
Location is collected only on a managed Android device that you, the parent, set up for a child, and only while the parental-control location feature is enabled. We use it to provide the location check-in features you turn on. You can disable location collection at any time by turning the feature off or removing the managed device. We retain a child's location history for no longer than 30 days.
6. Sharing Your Information
We share information only as needed to run the App:
- Service providers who operate parts of the App on our behalf — for example, sign-in (Google, Microsoft), push notifications (Firebase, Azure), simulated investing market data (Alpaca), optional calendar integration (Google Calendar), and hosting. They may process information only to provide their service to us.
- Legal requirements, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or applicable law.
- Business transfers, such as in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share children's information for advertising.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App. Specific retention practices include:
- A child's location history is retained for no longer than 30 days.
- A family account with no sign-in activity for 24 months may be deleted, along with its associated information.
- When you delete a child member or the family account, we promptly and permanently remove the associated information from our live systems.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- Review and update account and profile information in your settings.
- Download a copy of your and your children's information (data export).
- Delete a child member or the entire family account at any time.
- Withdraw consent for a child by deleting that child's account.
- Manage your analytics choice and non-essential cookies.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypting sensitive credentials and tokens. No security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and, where appropriate, through the App. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
